Powers
of Ten
1968,
The Eames made 'Powers of Ten: A rough sketch for a proposed film
dealing with the powers of ten and relative size of the universe.'
The
film translates Kees Boeke's book Cosmic View: The Universe
in Forty Jumps into a series of continuous zooms, starting
with a scene on earth and steadily moving away to the edge of
the known universe. The film then moves back into Earth, continuing
down to the level of a carbon atom.
...in
each ten seconds of travel the imaginary voyager covered ten
times the distance that he had traveled in the previous ten
seconds.
