Advanced Diploma of Art Professional Screenwriting (Film, Television & Digital Media)/C6045 Course Title/Code: Designing Digital Media ISYS 6999 Teacher: Shiralee Saul Brief #1 State of the Art Research report Research and create a report about 1 emerging online or digital communication form; i.e it is not simply a digitised form of an analogue genre. Potential subjects include: collaborative fiction, blogs, role-playing games, multi-user worlds, online documentary, interactive narratives, hypertext poetry, machine literature, machinima, SMS fiction, etc. Base the report on an actual case study or example of the genre. Include at least 1 image (e.g screenshot, illustration, etc) and the URL of your case study. Report should be no less than 500 words and should include a brief description of the genre and its major defining features, how it differs from traditional antecedents and discussion of your chosen case study. All sources referred to should be noted in a conventional bibliography and footnoted in your text. For online sources this includes: Page name (if different from site name), site name, page or site author (as appropriate), and date of posting if known (otherwise date of your access). These essays will all be posted to the class Blog. Each student is expected to make at least 2 'comment' postings to the Blog. Posting e.gs: questions to the author re their essay; site reviews and links to relevent sites; comments extending the concerns or adding extra information to a particular essay.
