Exercise #5: GOOD AND BAD SITESChoose one website splash page that you consider an example of bad design and one that is well designed. Note: NOT whether or not you like the content, but whether you think it is well designed-- i.e. communicates clearly and appropriately with its target users, is easy to use, is attractive and interesting visually, is interactively engaging, etc. Record its URL, site name and, if possible, its creation date. Analyze what factors make each well or badly designed & write a point-form list for each (min. 5 points). Screen-capture the splash page (usually index/welcome.htm/l) and any other significant pages of each site. Save images in appropriate web format/s. Format your images and text using Dreamweaver. Include a link back to the original sites and web-readied images from each site (ie your screen-dumps). To be completed in workshop time. |
